The University of Belgrade was founded in 1808, and today consists of 31 faculties and 11 institutes, whose more than 100.000 students and 5000 teaching and research staff work in more than 350 study programs across numerous academic fields.

The University of Belgrade has been ranked amongst the top 300 universities in the world (2017), at possibly the most prestigious global ranking list published by the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and carried out by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, better known as the SHANGHAI LIST, with the top ranking in 17 scientific fields specifically.
