Watched towers going up to distant west.
New storm near Watonga, OK
Drove under wall cloud of developing supercell thunderstorm. No funnels but wall cloud had moderate rotation.
Tornado to our south-southeast was moving northeast on the southeast and eastern outskirts of Enid.
Watch tornado number 1 rope out to our north.
Watch second wall cloud produce a funnel cloud to our north. Storm occluded well to our northeast.
Got lost on county roads that came to dead end. We had a poor contrast view of tornado to northeast crossing I-35. It was such poor contrast we did not even know it was a tornado.
Crossed damage of Redrock tornado. A house west of I-35 had a ranch with considerable damage. Wanted to try to get north east ahead of the tornado.
Watch Redrock tornado rope out to our north. Decision was made to go after Stillwater Supercell.
Not the smartest thing but we punched core of supercell and may have driven under mesocyclone. We were in an area of woods but noticed cylconic surface winds that we drove through.
We saw dozens of Emergency vehicles driving west.
Trying to catch up with tornadic supercell. Lightning illuminates a large cylinder updraft to our NNE.
We could see a lowering to our northeast but no tornado. It may have been hidden by the precip in the hook.
Blocked by police and high voltage electric lines over the road. High School sustained major damage. Buses were thrown all around. Police had us drive in circles. We finally told the officer he was directing motorist in circles. He let us go east on a Highway. We talked about following the storm but it was too far ahead of us. Decided to call it a night and head back to Norman. Lucky the tornado struck well after school hours!
We crossed a squall line that developed. It had quarter size hail and 50 to 60 MPH wind gusts.
